But you don't really care for music, do you?

I miss Darth Kitty. If it weren't for knowing cats don't have a good grasp of the past and the future, i.e. things that aren't directly in front of them, I'd wonder if he missed me as well. I want a cat!

Interesting observation from tour: museum-going is so much more relaxing when there aren't adults around (or people acting as adults, since one of the grad students in the group is 28). We could make snide comments about the descriptions of the big bang (Maya Angelou just didn't cut the mustard) and laze around on marble platforms in the dinosaur exhibit, or take goofy pictures next to reconstructed specimens of wolly mammoths, or go around trying to pronounce latin names like bithynia tentaculata. A much more pleasant experience overall than going with my parents or friends' parents or on class trips and feeling like I have to be on my best behavior and impress people.

I love Billy Joel, and so I was pleasantly surprised when "Matter of Trust" (right-click and save the mp3 link to disk if you can't play WMA) played on my mp3 player three times over the space of an hour today on the T. I went to the Prudential to get my fuck-me boots, and thank god they still had them in size 6. FMB ... schoolgirl skirt from Hot Topic ... slinky new little black dress ... maybe I am a whore, as Nougat so aptly/pointedly said yesterday several times. Ah well. These boots are amazing.

So the thing about this particular Billy Joel song is that the lyrics have always had a special meaning for me ... I once emailed them to Alex saying I wished he could sing them to me, but then of course later when I referenced the lyrics I found out he hadn't even read them. Yet I know Dustin Pedroia's jersey number. Fate does as she pleases, I guess.

I had lunch with James G. today and we went to a lovely "comestibles" shop called Darwin's way over on Mt. Auburn past the post office. I told him about the McDreamy affair and he said "well, his loss" which is exactly what someone else said to me about the same situation a little while ago. It was sort of an eerie echo effect in my head, but I guess it just means I have especially wonderful and supportive friends! Speaking of which, I'm tagging along with Wad and her Ohio friends tonight ...
